The Everyday Epiphany of a Longing Soul

Readings 010526

“For He satisfies the longing soul,
and fills the hungry soul with goodness.” — Psalm 107:9

In these days after Epiphany,
this verse speaks right into our lives.
Because people carry a hunger
the world cannot fill.
We reach for comfort, distraction, control—
yet the emptiness remains.

But when we turn to Christ,
when we let Him reveal Himself to us,
something changes.
He fills the hungry soul with His goodness.
He satisfies the longing
at the center of our hearts.
This is the quiet work of God in us
through Jesus Christ—
the One who keeps revealing Himself
in the midst of life.

The star may be gone from the sky,
but Christ remains.
No longer hidden.
No longer silent.
He steps into our routines,
our worries,
our culture—
right where we live.

And His first word is simple:
“Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Not far.
Not later.
At hand—here and now.

Not every voice in this world leads to God.
So Scripture says, “Test every spirit.”
And John reminds us:
“You belong to God…
and the One who is in you
is greater than the one in the world.”

Because the truth is plain:
we don’t adopt the world—
the world adopts us.
We breathe in its values
without noticing.

But Christ shows another way.
He lived in the world
without letting the world define Him.
He embraced people,
not the pressures around them.

So in these days after Epiphany,
our call is clear:
let Christ’s revelation shape
how we see,
how we choose,
how we live.
To be pure of heart—
clear, steady, awake—
so that in the midst of life,
we may truly see God.

Prayer - The Everyday Epiphany of a Longing Soul

Lord Jesus,
You see the hunger within me—
the longing no earthly thing can fill.
Reveal Yourself again in the midst of my life.
Fill my soul with Your goodness,
steady my heart with Your truth,
and keep me awake to Your presence.

Guard me from the voices that lead me away,
and strengthen the grace You have placed within me.
Shape how I see, how I choose, how I live,
so that with a clear and honest heart,
I may truly see You
in the ordinary places of my days.

Amen.
