Our Journey of Faith — Through the Sorrows of Mary

Readings 091525

September is dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows. And today, we pause to honor her—Mary, the sorrowful mother who stood faithfully at the foot of the Cross.

“Now there stood by the Cross of Jesus, His Mother…” (John 19:25).
She did not run. She did not shield herself from the pain. She remained. And in her silent witness, we find the heart of discipleship: to stay with Jesus, even when it hurts.

The devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows is not sentimental. It is scriptural. Each sorrow, each prayer, each verse draws us into the life of Christ—through the eyes of his mother. We are not merely remembering pain. We are contemplating redemption. We are uniting our own sufferings with hers, asking for repentance and conversion—not just for ourselves, but for the world.

In our time, when sorrow is often numbed or ignored, this devotion teaches us to feel again. To mourn what is broken. To pray for what is lost. And to trust that God is still working in the silence.

For there is one God.
One mediator between God and humanity—Christ Jesus, who gave himself as ransom for all. This is the center of our walk: not our strength, but his sacrifice. Not our striving, but his mercy.

So we lift our hands in prayer—not in anger or argument, but in trust. Like the psalmist, we cry out, “Blessed be the Lord, for he has heard my prayer.” In him, we find strength. In him, we find help. And with our song, we give thanks.

And we look again to Mary. Her sorrow was not weakness—it was love. Her tears were not despair—they were faith. And Jesus, in his final breath, gave her to us: “Behold, your mother.”

So today, let us walk with God. Let us pray with open hands. Let us trust like Mary. And let our hearts be pierced—not to be broken, but to be opened. For this is our journey: a walk of truth, of mercy, and of communion.

Let me mingle tears with you, Mourning him who mourned for me.
All the days that I may live.

Beneath the Cross

Lord Jesus,
You gave yourself in love,
and Mary stood beside You—
faithful, sorrowful, and strong.

Teach me to remain with You,
to pray with open hands,
to trust in Your mercy.

Mary, Mother of Sorrows,
help me unite my pain with Yours,
that my heart may be pierced
not by despair, but by love.

Let my life echo Your sacrifice,
and my soul rest in Your grace.

 Amen.
