We stand today at the Beautiful Gate.
Just like that man in the Scriptures—
crippled, waiting, hoping—
we come with our own wounds,
our own sins that keep us from walking freely.
And yet the Lord places us
right at the threshold of mercy.
Right before the Eucharist—
the Beautiful Gate of Christ Himself.
Think of the road to Emmaus.
Two disciples, hearts heavy,
walking away from hope.
And Jesus comes near.
Not absent.
Not remembered from a distance.
But present.
Walking with them.
Speaking to them.
Breaking bread before their eyes.
And suddenly—
they recognize Him.
That same moment is offered to us.
Not a symbol.
Not a memory.
But the closest encounter
we can have with Him
this side of glory.
At every Mass,
Christ stands before us
in His true Body and Blood,
saying,
“I am here.
Rise.
Walk with Me.”
And we, like the man at the Beautiful Gate,
find our legs under us again—
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
place me again at Your Beautiful Gate.
Heal what sin has crippled in me.
Open my eyes to Your presence in the Eucharist.
Let my heart burn like those at Emmaus.
Help me rise and walk in Your grace.
Stay with me, Lord, and make me whole.
Amen
