Sometimes miracles are not dramatic.
Sometimes they are simple—
yet still grand.
I saw that in the faces of those
who entered the Church
at the Easter Vigil.
I taught them the faith.
I walked with them through OCIA.
But despite my stumblings and faults,
Jesus never let go of their heart.
It was never really what I did.
It was grace—quiet, steady, faithful.
And I’m reminded of that
every time I try to preach
or write
on my own strength.
My words fall flat—
until I pray,
until I hand it all to God.
Then something shifts.
Because it is Christ who works,
Christ who speaks,
Christ who draws people to Himself.
St. Peter said,
“Jesus the Nazorean
was commended to you by God
with mighty deeds, wonders, and signs.”
Those deeds weren’t just long ago.
They’re happening now—
in the quiet corners of our lives.
Some will see them and rejoice,
sharing the good news with joy.
Others will turn away,
unable to believe.
But grace keeps working,
quietly, faithfully,
in hearts that stay open.
The Risen Christ
is still doing mighty deeds.
All He asks
is that we stay prayerful,
stay open,
and let Him work through us—
so our lives,
in their ordinary simplicity,
point back to Him.
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
You work in quiet ways I often overlook.
Open my eyes to Your simple, steady grace.
Give me courage to share Your mighty deeds,
even when others doubt or turn away.
Let Your quiet miracles unfold in my ordinary days.
May my life point back to You alone.
Amen
