I grew up country.
Not necessarily in the country—
but with country values.
Simple truths.
Simple beliefs.
Simple faith.
And all of it rests on one thing:
I believe God forgives me.
That’s the ground under my feet.
That’s the covenant I lean on.
Because Scripture says,
“The Lord remembers his covenant for ever.”
Not just when I’m strong,
not just when I get it right—
but always.
Jesus says,
“Whoever keeps my word will never see death.”
Not because we’re perfect,
but because His Word leads us home.
And then He adds,
“If I glorify myself, my glory is worth nothing;
it is my Father who glorifies me.”
Even Jesus points everything back to the Father—
so how could I not?
Country faith taught me that:
you don’t brag,
you don’t pretend,
you don’t make yourself the hero.
You trust the One who keeps His promises.
So today I stand on that covenant—
simple, steady, unshakable—
and I say with a grateful heart:
Lord, I believe You forgive me.
And that is enough.
Prayer
Lord, remember Your covenant of mercy with me.
Teach my heart to trust the forgiveness You freely give.
Keep me steady in Your Word that leads to life.
Let my days glorify You, not myself.
Strengthen my faith in the Father
who never forgets His promise.
Hold me close when I falter
and lift me when I rise.
Jesus, make my life a witness to Your faithful love.
Amen
