Return With Your Whole Heart

Readings 031026

I seek God’s mercy—
not someday,
not when life slows down,
but now.
Jesus warns us that there is a consequence
for the heart that refuses mercy,
for the soul that keeps saying,
“I’ll change later…
there’s always time.”

But later is not promised,
and a heart that will not forgive
cannot receive the mercy it needs.
So Scripture speaks with urgency:
“Even now… return to me
with your whole heart.”
Not the safe part.
Not the part that costs nothing.
My whole heart—
the wounded places,
the stubborn corners,
the grudges I still carry.

God forgives us as often as we return to Him
with a sincere heart—
without limit,
without hesitation,
without exhaustion.
This is the heart of the Gospel
and the witness of the Church.

Because the servant who refused mercy
was handed over to torment—
not because God delights in punishment,
but because a closed heart
cannot hold grace.

Pray:
Lord, soften what is hardened.
Break open what is locked.
Teach me to forgive as you forgive.
Teach me to return
before my heart grows used
to living far from You.
For You are gracious.
You are merciful.
And those who trust in You
will never be put to shame.

Amen
