At Mass this weekend,
the Priest said something bold.
Many lose faith
because God does not do
what they want Him to do.
They pray,
and nothing seems to happen.
They ask,
and heaven feels silent.
Then came the deeper truth:
faith is not about
what God does for us—
faith is about
what we are doing for God.
Jesus knew
His disciples would struggle too.
He told them they’d be cast out,
even hunted,
by people who believed
they were serving God.
He wasn’t frightening them.
He was preparing them.
Teaching them that faith
is not a bargain—
it is surrender.
So He promised the Advocate,
the Spirit of Truth,
the One who steadies the heart
when the world shakes.
The Spirit does not come
to grant favors.
The Spirit comes
to shape saints—
to help us understand
what God desires,
and to give us courage
to do His will.
This is where
Christian perfection begins:
in grace,
and in a deeper imitation
of Christ.
The Spirit testifies to Jesus.
And Jesus says,
“You also will testify.”
Not by getting what we want—
but by giving God
our whole heart.
Prayer
Holy Spirit of Truth,
steady my heart when faith feels thin.
Teach me to seek not favors,
but the will of the Father.
Shape me into a witness for Christ,
and make my whole life a “yes” to You.
Amen.
