Some days, we look at ourselves and all we see is the struggle.
Old habits we thought we’d left behind.
Fears that still cling to us.
A heart that feels too tired to trust.
But Scripture doesn’t shame us.
It doesn’t say, “Try harder.”
It simply invites us:
“Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.”
(1 Peter 5:7)
God’s mercy has a rhythm.
It’s not rushed.
It’s not demanding.
It’s gentle.
Healing.
Holy.
It waits for us.
It meets us where we are.
And it calls us home.
Like the trumpet of Jubilee—
that ancient sound that says:
Let go.
Release.
Return.
Return to the One who says:
“You are mine. You are free. You are home.”
Even John the Baptist, locked away in prison,
didn’t surrender to fear.
He surrendered to truth.
To integrity.
To the fire of love.
And now, we’re asked the same question:
Will we surrender?
Not just our sins...
but our grip on control.
Our fear of being seen.
Our anxiety about being enough.
Because surrender isn’t weakness.
It’s where trust begins.
It’s where grace echoes through a weary heart.
So today, let’s slow down.
Let’s cast our cares.
Let the trumpet sound.
And let’s walk—
not perfectly, but freely.
Not alone, but always held.
In the rhythm of God.
Amen.
