Align My Heart to Your Word

Readings 011326

There is a difference—
a deep, life‑shaping difference—
between receiving the word of God
and absorbing the words of men.

One leads us into life.
The other keeps us circling
around our own pride.

Every fault begins there—
in mistaken self‑love,
in that quiet whisper that says,
I know best.

And yes, many of us give God something…
but not everything.
Seventy‑five percent.
Eighty.
Ninety.
But very few surrender the whole heart.

Then Hannah steps into the story.
She rises.
She weeps.
She pours out her soul before the Lord—
no polish, no pretense,
just a heart laid bare.

And when she entrusts everything,
she walks away changed.
Not because her prayer is answered yet,
but because her heart has begun to align
with the heart of God.

At Capernaum.
Jesus speaks—
and His word carries weight.
Authority.
Freedom.
Even the unclean spirits obey Him.

His word doesn’t just inform.
It transforms.
It commands.
It frees.

So the question comes to us today:
Whose word shapes my life?
The shifting voices of the world…
or the living Word who speaks with authority?

O Lord, align my heart to Your word—
that I may follow You with my whole self.
Not halfway.
Not almost.
Fully.
Completely.

For that is where freedom begins.

Prayer

O Lord,
You who speak with authority and love,
turn my heart toward Your word
and away from the shifting voices of the world.

Free me from the pride that keeps me holding back.
Teach me, like Hannah, to pour out my whole self before You—
honestly, humbly, completely.

Align my will with Yours,
that I may follow You not halfway,
not almost,
but fully and freely.

Let Your living Word shape my life today,
and lead me into the freedom only You can give.

Amen.
