A Shepherd not a Show

Readings 070726

I did not walk the roads with Jesus and His disciples.

All I know is what has been handed down—

the Scriptures proclaimed,

the Tradition guarded,

the faith lived by the apostles.

And in that sacred Tradition,

there is nothing that supports the direction

some Christian communities are drifting today.

In the name of Jesus,

they build more religion,

more activity,

more spiritual noise—

as though multiplying altars

could somehow justify sin

instead of healing it.

But sin cannot be managed.

It cannot be covered with religious motion.

When the heart refuses conversion,

even holy things become hollow—

and sometimes,

they become occasions of sin.

Jesus.did not create spectacles.

He did not invent new forms of worship

to distract people from their wounds.

He walked through towns and villages,

teaching, proclaiming the Kingdom,

curing every disease and illness.

And when He saw the crowds—

troubled, abandoned,

like sheep without a shepherd—

His heart moved with pity.

Not because they needed *more religion*,

but because they needed *Him*.

They needed a Shepherd,

not a show.

They needed conversion,

not performance.

They needed mercy,

not management.

So today, the Lord invites us

to stop trying to “fix” sin with activity

and instead surrender it

to the One whose heart

still breaks open with compassion

for every troubled soul.

Because only Jesus converts.

Only Jesus heals.

Only Jesus saves.

Prayer

Lord Jesus,

Grant me the grace

to cling to the truth of your word.

Deliver me from the noise of sinfulness.

 Move my stubborn heart

to true conversion and surrender,

You alone are the Shepherd who heals,

converts, and saves.

Amen.
