Climbing Toward Christ

 Readings 111825

People do not pray for many reasons.
Sometimes it is because of where life has taken them.
Sometimes it is because of where others have dragged them.
And sometimes, when we are finally quiet and alone with God, those reasons rise to the surface.

Solitude is not always gentle.
It can stir restlessness before it brings peace.
It can be the place where we face our pain.
Yet in that very place, God waits.

Prayer is like Zacchaeus climbing the sycamore tree.
He climbed because he longed to see Jesus.
And when he reached that place, Jesus looked up and called him by name:
“Come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house.”

Our prayer is that climb.
It is effort, it is desire, it is hope.
And in the reaching, Christ meets us—not with judgment, but with invitation.
He comes to dwell with us, to bring salvation into our house, into our hearts.

So even when prayer feels like struggle, even when solitude feels heavy,
we can hold joy in our souls.
Because devotion opens us to the One who seeks and saves what was lost.
And in Him, our climb becomes transformation.

Prayer- Climb Toward Christ

Lord Jesus,

You call us by name, even when we feel lost.

In the quiet of solitude, where our pain rises,

teach us to climb toward You in hope.

Look upon us with mercy,

and choose to dwell in the house of our hearts.

Transform our struggle into joy,

our solitude into communion,

and our devotion into witness

of Your saving love.

Amen.
