Have you ever noticed…
you are not the same person you were five years ago?
Think back—ten years ago, even more.
We change. Circumstances change. The world changes.
But God does not change.
God’s will does not change.
God’s past, present, and future do not change.
Daniel tells King Nebuchadnezzar:
“You are the head of gold.”
Strong, dazzling, powerful.
Yet even gold crumbles.
History shows us: rulers rise and rulers fall.
Some noble, some corrupt.
Some strong, some fragile.
But none endure forever.
The statue in Daniel’s vision—gold, silver, bronze, iron, clay—
all of it collapses when struck by the stone not cut by human hands.
That stone becomes a mountain filling the whole earth.
This is the kingdom of God.
Not built by ambition.
Not sustained by armies.
But established by Christ, the cornerstone.
His reign is eternal, unshakable, universal.
Revelation promises the crown of life to those who remain faithful until death.
Luke warns us: do not be deceived by false messiahs.
Do not be terrified by wars, earthquakes, or disasters.
These are signs of the fragility of human kingdoms—
not signs of God’s absence.
So rulers rise and fall.
Temples crumble.
Nations war.
Alliances fracture.
Yet the kingdom of God stands forever.
Our task is not to cling to the fragile powers of this world,
but to remain faithful to Christ,
who crowns us with life.
Let us give glory and eternal praise to Him,
the true authority,
the eternal King,
whose reign cannot be shaken.
Prayer
Lord God,
You are the King whose reign cannot be shaken.
Rulers rise and fall, nations crumble,
but Your kingdom endures forever.
Teach us to trust not in fragile powers,
but in Christ, the cornerstone.
Give us courage to remain faithful,
hope to endure trials,
and hearts that glorify You in all things.
Crown us with life, O Lord,
and let us give glory and eternal praise to You,
now and forever.
Amen.
