God did not Create our Labels

Amos 5:14
Seek good and not evil, that you may live;
Then truly the LORD, the God of hosts, will be with you as you claim.

People read the Bible and they say they believe what it says and the truths it contains.  Some of the first verses in the Bible say that God made us and then pronounced it good.

We forget this.

Many of us identify ourselves with labels that name us through our actions or our lifestyles. To God, we are not the labels that we give ourselves or the ones society put on us. The labels we place on ourselves out of pride or guilt or for identify does not seek the good that is in us; but, an equality with God as people try to recreate them selves.

God pronounced us good - not a sinner, not an addict, not a homosexual, not a victim. People use these human labels to be mad at God. The prophet Amos tells us that we are to see the goodness that God pronounced, then we will live and God will be with us.

To see people as God made them and respect them in the goodness that all are created is how we can be good, love, and be like Christ.

Prayer:
God of all, Let us only see the goodness that you made in each of us seeing your word that lives in their heart and the face of Christ in every one.    Amen
