Immorality Among Us

Readings 090726

The world keeps trying

to tell us what is right—

even when every fiber of the soul

knows it’s wrong.

What once was called immoral

is now celebrated,

and those who stand in God’s truth

are labeled hateful, narrow, or unkind.

But Scripture reminds us

that a little yeast

leavens the whole dough.

A small compromise…

a quiet surrender…

suddenly the whole heart

begins to rise in a direction

it was never meant to go.

So the Lord calls us—

not to pride,

not to boasting,

but to become a fresh batch,

cleared of the old yeast

and the wrongful risings it brings.

And Jesus asks a simple question:

Is it lawful to do good?

To save life rather than destroy it?

The answer has not changed.

Good is still good.

Truth is still truth.

Life is still worth saving.

So we stand

gently,

humbly,

firmly—

not shouting back at the world,

but letting Christ

shape us from the inside out,

until His goodness

becomes the quiet witness

the world cannot silence.

Prayer

Lord,

Keep our hearts steady in Your truth

when the world pulls us toward the shadows.

Clear out the old yeast that clings to us

and make us a fresh, faithful people.

Let Your goodness be the light we carry today.

Amen
